Ancient Ancient Age 10 Year

At Condados. I'm on day 23 of 30 days of bourbon. I've tried nearly all the higher-end bourbon options currently in stock. So I chose what others have called a bottom-shelf gem. Not a bad pour for $4, but not complex, especially for a 10-year-old. Thin on the nose and palate with an almost watered-down taste. Hits the tongue almost like water, even when drinking it neat. No heat or burn. And a finish that lingers for just a moment. Odd taste at the front – saline? Not as sweet as I expected. I can't imagine seeking this out or keeping it on hand at my home bar.

Nose: corn with butter, orange citrus, a hint of mint. Sip: watery, leaning dry, a quick taste of caramel and vanilla followed by leather, orange peel, and anise. Finish: the anise lingers, eventually turning to cinnamon and black pepper, showcasing a pleasant high rye spice. I typically favor sweeter Bourbon, but this expression is well-spiced, not overwhelming, and not too bitter, offering a nice alternative to a sweet Bourbon.

Rich baking spice aromas with some rye and citrus notes on the nose, plus oak. Thin mouthfeel with oak again and I detected some apple pie. Slight burn on the finish which lingers for a bit. Not a complex pour, but excellent value. Difficult to find for me but will definitely be purchasing again when I locate it.

A dependable, budget-friendly option. The Buffalo Trace mash bill #2 is evident, with the higher rye content. Don't confuse this with the standard Ancient Age; the 10-year version is worth the small cost for your home bar.

Smells like Mellow Corn, very smooth and buttery. It's almost like butterscotch with almonds. Floral and citrus notes hit immediately on the palate. There's no burn at all. A solid pour considering the price.

Discovered a bottle from '92 at my local shop. It's a genuinely good bourbon. Not a top-tier choice, but a very dependable sipper... Worthy of a low 90s score.
