About this bottle

Alma del Jaguar produces a 100% agave tequila, with a portion of proceeds dedicated to protecting wild jaguars through the Northern Jaguar Project. This initiative is a collaboration involving Master Distiller Sergio Cruz, tequila expert Adam Fodor, and the Vivanco family, who have been involved in tequila production for five generations in Arandas (NOM 1414). The tequila matures for two months in American white oak barrels from Tennessee and Kentucky, followed by an additional month of aging in French oak that previously held Chardonnay from a Santa Barbara, CA winery. It is bottled at 80 proof and is made without additives and sustainably.

Kolton Hager 3.5

An exquisite, subtle Agave Spirit from Alma del Jaguar [NOM 1414] located in Jalisco (Los Altos Southern), Mexico. It undergoes a double distillation in handcrafted Mexican copper pot stills, with the final mixture comprising 80% wild yeast and 20% Champagne yeast. Aged for two months in American White Oak and one month in French Oak, it is bottled unfiltered at 40% ABV. Its aromatic profile opens with scents of cooked agave, wood, fruits, flowers, herbs, and spices. The balanced mid-palate offers notes of vanilla, plantain, caramel, and orange zest, leading to a swift and dry finish with hints of jalapeño, oak, cinnamon, and honey. May 2024

Lawson Barbee 4.3

More oak influence than agave. Unexpected for a reposado. Drinks like an añejo. Has a bready, old book, and perhaps caraway taste.

Timothy Madsen 3.0

Satisfactory flavor. Nothing extraordinary about it, but generally acceptable.
