Amie Joshi 3.8

Delightful small bottle of happiness, this Akashi Red is the second Japanese whiskey I'm sampling. It begins with a scent of butterscotch, chocolate, deeply roasted coffee, and limoncello cream. Incredibly smooth on the palate, returning the butterscotch, blended with caramel, toffee, Tawny port, and preserved red fruits. The conclusion is a touch disappointing; while there's plenty of fruitiness (apple, banana), there's also a significant amount of tannins and a very dry mouthfeel. It detracts somewhat, but it's still a very good imported whiskey at a reasonable cost. I wish the bottle were larger, though!

Donna Costa 3.8

Asian Japanese whisky, last on the tasting workshop list. Nothing particularly stood out to me. It's correct. The European version, meaning no molasses was added.

Linwood Wilkerson 2.5

Acceptable, but unfortunately not good either; a dull whiskey lacking any offensive scents.

Loren Ayers 3.8

Gentle and easily consumed. Best enjoyed neat. No overpowering flavors on the tongue

Nan Gruber 3.5

Mild with distant notes unlike usual whiskies

Brenda Fournier 4.0

Delicate, straightforward with a hint of vanilla.
