Sample from Max’s. A bit too sweet for my preference; I like spirits that have been finished to still maintain balance. Nose shows notes of tobacco, pepper, and orange. Palate has significant honey and caramelized sugars. Orange, pear, slight malt and pepper. Cocoa and oak notes complete it. The finish is my least favorite aspect, bittersweet and long-lasting. To be clear, it's a good rum, just not as good as I had anticipated.
