Emmett Chin 4.3

My previous experience with Aberlour Casg Annamh was with Batch 001, which I found delicious and rated 88 out of 100. Without consulting that prior assessment, upon tasting Batch 002, I arrived at the same score, and a similar recommendation stands: you should add this one to your collection. This bottling, at 48% alcohol by volume, exhibits a very pleasing deep copper hue. On the nose: Blackberry jam, Glazed ham, wood shavings, varnish; dry vanilla cake, celebratory cake. On the palate: More of the same.- blackberry jam, pungent ginger, nutty, dried plums, licorice. An enjoyable aftertaste. Tobacco, ginger, a certain herbal sweetness, chocolate. Overall, this is a robust pour. Highly recommended, very well-balanced. 88/ 100.

Initially, the aroma presents ethanol and spice. The taste is of sweet cinnamon, cloves, and ginger. The finish is mellow, brief, and carries a hint of apple and pear. Adding a little water brings out more apple on the nose. The palate remains mellow and rich with warming spices. The finish stays mellow.
