About this bottle

This straight bourbon, released in June 2017, will be exclusively sold in Colorado. As its name indicates, it features only two grains, a deviation from their typical four-grain mash bill. Similar to their Straight Corn Bottled-In-Bond, the mash bill is 86% corn and 14% malted barley. This spirit is aged in 53-gallon new American white oak barrels that have been heavily charred. It has matured for a minimum of 4 years and is bottled at 100 proof, with 2400 bottles produced.

Had a 1oz pour at a family member's home during Easter dinner. The oddly shaped glass I used really pushed the alcohol scent right into my nose, and it burnt a little. After my first sip I moved the glass and the scent was much more of a traditional bourbon smell. The taste was a little sweeter than the four grain bourbon, even though this was a higher proof. I believe that the corn heavy mash contributed to the sweeter taste. I would definitely like to have another taste of this the next time I am around that house.

Attended a tasting of this at Laws Distillery during the launch event. It was good, but nothing stood out as unique. It was a bit pricey (around $60, I believe). I purchased a bottle primarily because it was Batch #1 and it looks impressive on my shelf at home.
