Man, this bourbon is fantastic. The aroma is robust, rich, and emerges sweet, yet fiery and assertive. Like a WWE ringside attendant when insulted. Notes of Cinnamon Red Hots, oak, cherry, brown sugar, and bakery pastry or pie crust all vie for attention in this barrel-proof marvel. The palate is also fiery. It's dry and ashy with a distinct taste of Christmas baking spices, specifically cinnamon and cardamom. The bourbon concludes with cinnamon and a tangy spiciness, reminiscent of some Asian dishes. This is a formidable spirit that intends to go down aggressively. However, once you gain its approval, it becomes a steadfast companion. I consider this one of the finest bourbons I've tasted. Batch #1 of 291 Barrel Proof Colorado Straight Bourbon Whiskey utilizes a mash bill of corn, malted rye, and malted barley. The spirit aged for three years in new, charred American oak barrels and received a finishing touch from Aspen wood staves. It was bottled at a barrel proof of 66.9% ABV. This release in June 2020 was a distillery exclusive, offered alongside a Barrel Proof Straight Rye Whiskey, marking them as the oldest expressions from the Colorado distillery to date. Production was limited to 176 bottles.
