10 Distillery Rd.

This is a high-quality bourbon, in my estimation. Its name comes from the distillery's street number, Green River Distillery in beautiful Owensboro, Kentucky. It's pleasing when the Master Distiller is humble yet confident enough to share the bourbon's Mash Bill on the label. It's composed of 70% corn; 21% winter rye; and 9% malted barley. The barrel staves have a #4 char (also disclosed on the label). Additionally, at 92 proof, it possesses solid strength but isn't overpowering or hot. THE NOSE presents corn, vanilla & caramel, accented by hints of cherry... reminiscent of a warm, inviting Danish sweet roll. A closer examination of the aromas reveals production notes of a dusting of Acetone and a whisper of Furfural (Furfural has aromas of caramel, chocolate, vanilla, toast & almond). THE TASTE begins with vanilla & cinnamon butter on the front, then the 21% rye makes its presence known by intensifying that flavor towards the back and upper palate, changing the sweetness into a smooth yet distinct "spice." It's somewhat like eating a creamy candy that later reveals hot cinnamon hidden within. THE FINISH is also very satisfying as the cinnamon spice recedes and allows the smooth, creamy tastes of vanilla, caramel, and cinnamon stick to return for a gentle, soft, and long-lasting encore to what I found to be a fantastic sipping bourbon that doesn't require water to mellow it. However, if you choose to add just 2 or 3 drops from a medicine dropper of cold Limestone water into your glass and swirl gently, then sip again, I discovered the cherry notes amplified in my mouth for another delightful experience!
