Yushan 4 Year Sherry Cask

I haven't been impressed with prior tastings of Kavalan, so I decided to try Taiwan's second distillery. The aroma of this 4-year-old Yushan is quite inviting, with notes from plums, grapes, and baking spices to tropical fruits, marzipan, and fresh ginger. Juicy and spicy flavors hit the palate; the hurried aging has left it woody and a bit rough simultaneously. Peppery oak, dark chocolate, and hints of cantaloupe highlight the quality of the casks.
