Anaya Ambrose 3.5

A well-rounded Taiwanese Single Malt Whisky from Nantou Distillery, crafted with Scottish barley and matured in a Kentucky-sourced ex-Bourbon cask. It begins with spicy notes of citrus zest, creamy toffee, and cinnamon crumble. The middle develops into rich toffee, milk chocolate, vanilla, tobacco, and bananas foster, leading to a tropical finish of honey granola and dried tropical fruits. Flaviar advent calendar day #19 Nose: creamy vanilla, toffee, citrus zest, honey. Subtle hints of cinnamon and light chocolate. Mildly sweet caramel. Barely perceptible cereal notes. Palate: Zesty, orange, creamy sweet vanilla. It's definitely a dessert-style whiskey. Honeyed malt, some peppery spice. Light oak toast. A very subtle chocolate note. Sweet yet bright and lively. Finish: Candied sweetness gives way to a warm, pleasant oak with mild spice.

Curtis Tom 3.5

This whiskey is like a glencairn glass of candy for adults. Sweet aromas of butterscotch, Werthers hard candy but then it changes. The aromas started to seem like a Rum. Warm tropical notes, mixed in with lemon zest, banana, peppery spice. The flavor is gentle and subtle with heat from the cinnamon that pleasantly lingers. A good solid whiskey that would be approachable for beginners.

OMAR Bourbon Aroma Whiskey (Raw) 700ml Suggested Retail Price: 1200 NTD Special Price: 830 NTD Alcohol Content (%): 46% Volume: 700ml Appearance: Bright golden color, like honey. Aroma: Initially, a fresh and natural white floral scent, followed by rich aromas of sugarcane, vanilla, cream, and honey. Matured in Taiwan's climate, it develops a unique maltiness, angelica, and cedar notes, creating a stable and balanced overall flavor. Elegant floral notes and Taiwanese tropical fruits like dried mango and ripe pineapple add complexity. Taste: Sweet vanilla and subtle floral notes on the palate, highlighting a smooth and natural body. Rich oils outline a medium-long finish with vanilla, caramel, and citrus. Aftertaste: Delicate and sweet with a lingering warmth.

Phoenix Stark 3.0

Aroma: Not typical lemon, but predominantly lemon tart or baked goods (custard) notes from the whisky. A strong banana scent emerges from the glass upon sniffing. Taste: Contrary to the aroma, a heavy grain flavor is noticeable. After about three days, there's a taste of moist chocolate cookies. A hint of vanilla with an acetone-like quality (very subtle), along with a small amount of nuts and dried fruit are detected. Finish: The honey aroma leans towards beeswax, followed by lingering subtle grains. The finish dissipates very quickly.

Gena Landis 3.3

Similar to a previous assessment. Sweetness like shortbread, vanilla, bubblegum, gentle spice, and light oak. A pleasant drink, but not particularly engaging or distinct. I was anticipating a Taiwanese distinctiveness. Kavalan remains the superior choice among Taiwanese distilleries thus far.
