About this bottle

The House of Suntory presents this Yamazaki bottling as part of its 2022 Tsukuriwake Selection. This group of four single malts comes from the Yamazaki Distillery and focuses on the core elements that define the brand. The term "Tsukuriwake" translates to "artisanship through a diversity of making." This particular expression is composed of single malts that matured in Japanese Mizunara oak, a type of wood indigenous to Japan. Originally introduced in Japan in 2020, this whisky became available in certain international markets, including the United States, starting in June 2022.

Mathias Thacker 5.0

This was identified as a Yamazaki 12 Mizunara Cask at the distillery. It was the second-best spirit of the day, surpassing the Yamazaki 25 and Yamazaki LE, and only beaten by the Hibiki 30. Japanese whisky aged in Mizunara casks is genuinely special.
