Wyoming Whiskey Private Stock Bourbon

Each of these Private Stock Single Barrel - Cask Strength offerings will vary slightly. Mine is 111 proof, and I've tried three others that ranged from 108-111 proof. My bottle came from an exceptional barrel. I've heard some were quite poor, though I don't have details on those specific barrels or production years. Similar to a Small Batch Bourbon I had, I detect caramel, vanilla, black tea, and some herbal notes. The elevated proof prolongs the finish and adds a pleasing spicy kick of cardamom or ginger that lasts a long time. A few drops of water enhance the wonderful barrel char character that Wyoming Whiskey consistently delivers. If you enjoy Wyoming Whiskey and this is available, I recommend trying it. A single cask, private select bourbon for $45-49? That's unheard of. Grab it! This note pertains to Barrel #1929.

Sampling the Liquor King Single Barrel today... it's potent! Initially drawn in by hints of sweetbread and light corn, I expected a pleasant experience... then came the first sip. Immediately, sharp, hot sensations of corn, spice, and grain assaulted my taste buds... after a couple of sips, I believe all my taste receptors have perished. Frankly, it wasn't the worst encounter I've had with a full proof private barrel bourbon. I'll give it another go in a few days with some added water to see if it mellows out. It certainly presented my palate with an interesting challenge. My less adventurous friends would likely despise this and blame me for introducing it... but I detect some potential here. I'm not finished with you yet, Wyoming!

From A&B Store Pick at 107 proof. Reviews for this one haven't been stellar, but A&B's store selections are generally quite good, so let's give it a shot. The aroma is pleasant, with notes of sweet corn and brown sugar. The taste definitely has a young ethanol heat that isn't very enjoyable. However, the flavor is quite robust, featuring notes of dried fruit and molasses. Overall, this could benefit from more time in the barrel, but it certainly possesses the foundational elements to become a fine spirit after some aging. Curious to see what Wyoming Whiskey will produce when they reach the ten-year mark. It's certainly not undrinkable, but I likely wouldn't seek it out again. They also offer a double barrel that I might try to see if additional barrel aging enhances its smoothness.

A genuine wheated bourbon with an intense, high-proof flavor profile. From a special selection by Vintage Bottle Shop. 116.8 proof. Absolutely wonderful. If you appreciate wheated bourbon and haven't experienced Wyoming, you're missing out. I own three different varieties and enjoy them all. Eager to see their future creations.

Pleasant notes of tobacco and leather at the start, with a nice heat that quickly develops into the mid-palate. From there, it progresses gently. The flavor profile isn't complex but is still quite enjoyable. I wouldn't suggest drinking this over ice; it's better neat.

Bottled for the state of Ohio. To be honest, it tastes like you're walking through a greenhouse, and as you pass the employees, they hit you in the face with flower stalks. Very earthy. Hints of caramel appear between mouthfuls of grass.
