Eloise Stjohn 4.0

The nose presents with charred oak, vanilla, bread, creme brulee, and brown sugar. This exhibits all the signs of a wheated bourbon and does so exceptionally well. Overall, the aroma is a blend of cake and bread, capturing the best aspects of both. As it opens up, there are faint hints of smoke and leather, but it ultimately leaves you wanting a sip. The palate is smooth, filling the mouth with charred oak, bread, vanilla, and oak-infused baking spices. It's very mellow and easy to drink, with a great depth of flavor. Unlike many wheated bourbons, there isn't a strong fruit presence. It's akin to enjoying a piece of fresh bread followed by pound cake. The finish is moderate, with a lingering spice in the mouth as the other flavors subside. While the finish is somewhat limiting, I definitely have a soft spot for this one.
