A fantastic, well-balanced bourbon. The nose is beautiful, with notes of baking spices like cinnamon and clove, fruits such as fresh nectarines and apple, vanilla, banana, and pear. The taste features oak, vanilla, brown sugar, and a hint of spice on the finish. I absolutely love the balance of this whiskey and it's consistently my go-to for an Old Fashioned.

About this bottle
This special bottling of Woodford Reserve Bourbon honors the 145th running of the Kentucky Derby. Similar to the prior year, it showcases artwork by Louisville artist Keith Anderson, who has been employed at the Bourbon Street Cafe, a private dining area at the Brown-Forman headquarters, since 2007. This year's release also commemorates the 20th anniversary of the Derby bottles. It became available starting in March 2019.

I impulsively purchased one of these in March and am very glad I did, as they sold out and I haven't seen them since. Woodford is one of my favorites, and given my fondness for the Kentucky Derby, I really wanted this particular bottle!
Spice level is 3/5. Moderate spice when consumed neat. It's a consistently good bourbon, as usual. The flavor persists on the palate for a long time, which is nice. Rating: 3.75 neat. It's very good on the rocks. Very smooth with minimal spice. Rating: 4.0 iced.
This entry also corresponds to Derby 148, which is what I am evaluating. The aroma and taste are somewhat floral and fragrant.
Standard Woodford. It's just in a special edition bottle.
A commendable bourbon with good quality.
