A companion shared this incredible spirit. The bottle itself is beautiful, with exceptional detail. Nose (rated 4): chocolate peanut. Oak. Tobacco. Dark berries. Musty scotch. Palate (rated 5): immediate soda-like feel. Very refreshing. A tiny rye spice but no bitterness. Tobacco dryness and flavor. Highly unique. Some flavors are elusive. A hint of sweetness. Finish (rated 4.25): a warming embrace. Oak on the finish and notes of dried berries linger. I wish it were more pronounced.

About this bottle
Winter Run, the second offering from California's Wolves Whiskey, founded by James Bond and Jon Buscemi, was again produced by master distiller Marko Karakasevic of Charbay Distillery in Mendocino County. This whiskey is a mix of four components: a stout beer distillate aged 8 years in French oak; a pilsner beer distillate aged 5 years in new American oak; an undisclosed age sourced rye; and a single malt that spent 9 years in French oak. Wolves Winter Run is presented at 104 proof, with only 1,338 bottles available.

It definitely brings out the hop flavor. I had hoped the hop flavor wouldn't be so pronounced.
Lots of rye, rich, smooth, and almost sweet honey.
Noticeable barley flavor, but it was enjoyable.
