About this bottle

High West is reintroducing The Prisoner's Share, a limited edition created in partnership with The Prisoner Wine Company, after its initial launch in November 2022. Similar to the first release, this edition is a blend of straight rye and bourbon whiskeys that are then finished in barrels used for The Prisoner Red Blend wine. A nationwide rollout commences in November 2023, and the bottles will also be offered at High West's Utah distillery and Saloon locations. (SRP $174.99)

This is my preferred High West expression, a blended Whiskey similar to Midwinter's Night Dram but finished in port casks. It's sweet and smooth with notes of dried fruit, showcasing the quality High West is known for. Don't overlook it if you find it available.

This is a mix of bourbon and rye, but the rye is more prominent. The palate is loaded with baking spice that transitions into red fruit notes from the wine barrels. While the finish could be longer, it offers a satisfying fruitiness.

Timmy Gregg 4.3

Nose - Deep fruit, berries, plums, subtle wood, and more dark berries/fruit. Palate - Oak, black cherry, hide, grape, the wine notes are present and are delightful. Finish - Spice, sweet cream, berry finish, really excellent.

Selena Hodges 4.5

Thick texture, noticeable alcohol warmth, balanced by the Prisoner's sweet plum and prune notes. Excellent for chilly evenings or as a post-meal indulgence. Might be nice with some dark chocolate.

Jill Amin 4.5

The smell is earthy and intricate, with a bit of an alcohol sting. The taste is sugary, and the finish brings in notes of old wood. It has molasses, vanilla, and dark toffee; it seems well-aged and expertly mixed.

Jasper Eng 4.0

Nose: Fruity aroma upfront Palate: Grains with fig preserves. Not too astringent, with rye spice and mint appearing late. The finish has more dark fruit notes.
