Wolcott Bottled-in-Bond Bourbon

Series #0126 A potent, Bottled in Bond Kentucky Straight Bourbon created by Master Distiller Danny Kahn. It is produced at the Barton 1792 Distillery in Bardstown, Kentucky, and bottled at 100 Proof. It begins aromatically with notes of grain, wood, fruit & spice; while a balanced middle adds notes of cereal grains, dried fruits, caramel & vanilla bean; leading to a bold, medium-length finish with notes of oak, leather & smoke. Very strong and sweet vanilla aroma that clashes with an equally strong alcohol presence. However, on the palate, the vanilla integrates nicely, and the burn subsides, leaving a bubblegum sensation in your mouth. The finish fades quickly, but a hint of cinnamon remains as a reminder.

I had the chance to taste this at a tasting event, and it had the flavor profile I really enjoy in a classic bourbon. This was also my first BiB, so that's something to celebrate. Notes of oak, cherry, vanilla, and cinnamon were well-balanced with the 100 proof. I'm definitely considering purchasing it later.

It's respectable for a box wine. I wouldn't be quick to purchase it again or keep it stocked, but it's acceptable. The spirit can be somewhat sharp initially when opened, but it mellows out. The Kirkland/Costco box wine offers superior flavor and a better deal.

The aroma features vanilla, molasses, and stone fruit alongside light oak. The flavor leans towards classic brown sugar, charred oak, and leather. I was hoping for more of the nose's character in the taste, but it's still a solid drink.

Light, sweet aroma of orange peel, white chocolate, and a hint of baking spices. The palate is very grainy. Tastes quite young and vegetal. But the finish is nice and bold and spicy. Good, but not quite great.
