Wilderness Trail Bottled in Bond Single Barrel Bourbon (Wheated Bourbon)

Tonight, I'm out and about, and I recently tried Lost Empire Bourbon, which was acceptable. But this bottling... Completely different. Really good! The initial taste brought a strong wave of anise. It has a mild sweetness with wood notes. I can't claim it's "intricate," but it certainly offers a lot. Solid! A worthwhile buy— and when I do, I'll provide further details below... Here are my additional thoughts on this pour. Today, I went out to get the last bottle available at the liquor store I frequent. Appearance - Copper/amber. Smell - Brown sugar, a touch of alcohol. Taste - (Consumed with ice) A first warming sensation and feeling in the chest as it goes down; a somewhat smooth texture on the tongue; sweet, as expected from a wheat-heavy whiskey, but also quite zesty. Abundant wood presence with every following taste. The anise I detected yesterday isn't present here. A faint note of apple appears near the end. Aftertaste - Moderate length, somewhat drying, with additional wood notes. This makes me think of different whiskeys I've sampled, so I'm pondering if it will become a staple for me or blend in with the others. Regardless, this is quite good, and I can suggest it to anyone thinking about it. I might sample the high rye (Black label) after finishing this one.

Method: neat Aroma: apple, cinnamon, and steak seasoning. With a bit more sniffing, vanilla and brown sugar emerged. The oak is not overpowering. Taste: Warming proof and oak. Apple with vanilla. The oak remains and it has a medium-high thickness.

The aroma has classic bourbon notes, tons of vanilla and brown sugar. Incredibly easy to sip, and the first taste is very sweet with just the right amount of heat. I detect some toasted marshmallow and butterscotch. It has a wonderful mouthfeel, is flavor-forward, and tapers off wonderfully with some light caramel.

Aroma: spicy yet sweet (hints of brown sugar) Palate: menthol tobacco, nice and balanced Finish: a long, warm feeling, a bit tight in the throat Overall: I'm new to this brand, I like this bottle and look forward to tasting their other bottles.

This is enjoyable! When I tasted it, I compared it to Buffalo Trace's Stagg Jr. The combination of wheat and corn on the nose is delightful, and its subtle sweetness makes it a pleasant sipper. As expected for a 110 proof bourbon, the warmth was noticeable.

Sandalwood, roses, and light tobacco smoke on the aroma. The palate starts with those flavors, then a brown sugar sweetness that doesn't overpower, followed by sweet vanilla cream and oranges. A smoky, white peppery finish of moderate length.
