This bottle isn't terrible, but it has very strong oak and black pepper notes. Leather notes are also noticeable, but the complexity and other flavors seem to be overwhelmed by the oak and pepper. I would rate this bourbon 3.5 out of 5, but unfortunately, that option isn't available. Additionally, this bourbon is a bit expensive, and if you prefer a lighter bourbon with mild oak flavors, this bottle might not be suitable for you.

I generally appreciate most Orphan Barrel whiskeys, but Whoop and Hooper falls short. The flavor is overly sharp and bitter. It spent too long in the barrel and has excessive heat. I do NOT recommend it.
The nose has a pleasant leathery scent, though the palate was a bit underwhelming in terms of complexity and depth. It's interesting to have tried a 28-year-old bourbon, likely the oldest I've encountered.
Nose: Resembles urinal cake and stale popcorn, with a sweet undertone. Palate: Tastes of high fructose corn syrup and burnt Nesquik, quite distinctive. Finish: Medium notes of corn and oak.
Quite disappointing. It offers more historical interest than enjoyable whiskey. It's over-oaked, making it difficult to detect any positive flavors.
Completely unappealing. Smells musty like mildew, barnacles, and an old pier at Wrightsville Beach with a grandmother surfer.
