Magnolia Shelton 3.5

I have a confession about fruit: I don't enjoy grapefruit. When tasked with reviewing Whitley Neill's Pink Grapefruit gin, I was committed but worried about the outcome. This gin, inspired by Spanish citrus groves, features botanicals like Cassia Bark, Orris Root, Chamomile, and Lime Flowers to complement its Iberian Pink Grapefruit. The aroma is invigorating, with light grapefruit, grassy notes, and the scent of the air after a spring rain. The initial taste is subtly sweet, shifting to a peppery tingle. The flavor quickly develops with orange citrus notes, leading to a finish of mild grapefruit bitterness and cloves. It's more like cocktail bitters than an overpowering bitterness. While that subtle bitter note remains, it harmonizes with the gin's initial sweetness on the lips. I suspect this would make a wonderfully refreshing summer cocktail. Could this gin win over this grapefruit-averse individual? Only time will tell, but I am pleasantly surprised. 7.25/10
