Nose: a deep sweetness reminiscent of molasses, with notes of cloves, tobacco, and rye. Taste: brown sugar and cola flavors emerge, yet it's not excessively sweet. Rye is present, leaning more towards dill than anise, though not overwhelmingly so. A hint of orange might also be detected. Finish: dry, possessing a clean sensation on the palate that isn't minty but evokes a similar feeling. Rye is prominent. Following other opinions: I did not detect the cherry and vanilla noted by many for the typical bottling. However, the persistent rye characteristics align with the knowledge of its 20% rye composition and absence of barley. The brown sugar I perceived could easily be interpreted as the caramel others experienced, and my molasses notes might correspond to their honey mentions. It's comforting to find a reference to menthol, confirming my own perception or at least shared experience.

A very enjoyable single barrel selection from Leo's/Urban Burbanist. The aroma and taste have a woody, citrus character.
