Treaty Oak Day Drinker Texas Bourbon

The aroma is better than average, but the quality stops there. This is a low-proof, young bourbon, so expectations were low, but it's generally rather disappointing. The nose has soft marshmallow and a little spice, with caramel, honey, and corn forwardness, plus cinnamon. The palate doesn't offer much; there's no heat and not much of anything else. I'm a high-proof enthusiast, so perhaps my taste isn't suited for this, but it is what it is. For $25, I've encountered worse. I use the rating scale below. The distiller uses a 5-point scale, and I use a 10-point scale, but I'm sure you're not too inebriated to do the conversion! 1. Abysmal - So terrible I discarded it. 2. Poor - I would avoid consuming it. 3. Bad - Several imperfections. 4. Below average - Not terrible, but I'd prefer many other options. 5. Average - Simply acceptable. 6. Very good - Superior to average. 7. Great - Significantly above average. 8. Excellent - In a class of its own. 9. Incredible - A personal all-time favorite. 10. Flawless.

The aroma is sweet like dessert or candy, with soft grainy notes and a hint of oak, plus some light fruity hints – it lacks that harshness common in craft spirits, but also lacks depth. The palate is where the youthfulness truly shows with raw woody, grainy, and metallic notes, interspersed with fruit, honey, and spice, preventing it from being a typical craft whiskey. The finish starts well but devolves into that raw wood 'craft' profile I dislike.

This spirit reminds me of the rare blue moon of whiskeys. It's a little thin, but a very pleasant, deep orange note comes through. Not too shabby for a budget ($22 in my location) Texas craft bourbon.

Nose: iodine. oak. Vanilla. Ash. Spice. Warmth fades quickly. Sweet. Honey. Floral notes. Spicy yet still an easy sipper.

This is excellent. Consistently delicious. Occasionally I notice a pleasant, hearty wheat bread aroma, while other times it's pure orangey syrup. It's great, grab a bottle.

It almost feels more like an Irish whiskey due to its lightness and drinkability rather than a bourbon.
