Quinn Olvera 1.8

Nose: Salty air, spearmint, and a medley of herbs. With tonic, a strong celery scent emerges. Palate: Notes of celery seed, raw celery stalks, and celeriac. This singular flavor dominates the taste, leaving juniper in a supporting role. The mouthfeel is pleasing. Finish: Lingering. Celery and parsley that endure for a very long time. The botanicals in this gin are lovage and samphire, which are new to me. However, the smells and tastes of brine, celery, and parsley I detected are often associated with these two ingredients. I suppose I did grasp the core characteristics of the profile, so the gin performs as intended. Nonetheless, juniper is nearly imperceptible, and while this gin holds its own in a gin and tonic, it's more of a novelty than a fine ingredient. I wouldn't purchase a bottle or order it at a bar. As a straight drink, it's an adequate one-time experience, but as an all-purpose gin, I found it unsuccessful. Tasted from a sample acquired at Tobermory distillery. “Inferior”: 69/100 (1.75 stars)
