The nose is nutty and malty. It's not complex but definitely pleasant. The initial taste has a nice balance of sweetness and saltiness, with toffee and vanilla notes being prominent. Black pepper and a strawberry note appear as it develops. Again, nothing overly complex, but this is certainly one of the more satisfying blended whiskys I've encountered. When first opened, the youthfulness and grain spirit are more apparent, but after some air and settling, there's plenty to enjoy.
