Kirkland 27 Year Blended Scotch Bourbon Cask Matured

It's been some time, but this bottle might have cost less than its stated age. Certainly no more than $2 per year, which is... intriguing? Not many things can claim that. The aroma offers raisin, grape must, and fig. A very typical yet enjoyable scotch nose. The body is unexpectedly complex. Not surprising given its 27 years or that it's a blend... but the Kirkland aspect. I detect heavy initial raisin and fig, shifting sharply on the finish to a bitter wood and leather taste. While the body is smooth like scotch, the finish also has a bourbon-like mouthfeel. I have to admit, my expectations were quite low. I've tried Kirkland jeans and beer. Let's just say you know what you're buying with Kirkland. This turned out to be a genuine surprise for me. I'm uncertain how broad its appeal will be. It leans more towards bourbon than I'd prefer when I'm seeking scotch, and it doesn't have enough bourbon character when I want bourbon. But it's certainly interesting. And when discussing value... this is incredibly inexpensive considering its complexity.

Dark amber in color. The aroma has toasted pears, sherry, and some light wood. It's lightly sweet and woody with a thick, creamy texture and minimal burn. A straightforward, satisfying, and extremely pleasant Scotch for sipping at an excellent price!

Pleasant, without peat, and excellent. It's not overly complicated, offering mild sweetness, with a moderate finish and a wonderfully faint yet satisfying lingering flavor. A superb drink. Purchased a case.
