The Thomas Tate Tobin's Taos Lightning Bourbon pays homage to the original Taos Lightning spirit, first distilled in 1820 by Simeon Turley, who died in 1847 during the Taos Pueblo Revolt. This whiskey is named after Thomas Tate Tobin, a survivor of the revolt who later worked as an Army bounty hunter. This chill-filtered spirit has a mash bill of 60% corn, 40% rye and barley malt, and is aged for four years in new, charred American oak barrels.

One of the smoothest bourbons I've ever tried, and I used to be a bartender, so I've tasted many! Very pleasant smoky aftertaste, gets you tipsy quickly;) I bought it in Taos while on vacation, and it was the best purchase of the trip, I just wish I could easily buy another bottle at a store here in Fort Worth:)
Acceptable, though it occasionally exhibits a hint of industrial alcohol. As a resident of this state, I feel obligated to keep at least one of this company's products on hand.
A scent of char and some fruit, possibly cherry. Tastes of oak, molasses, and spice.
A slightly sweet finish with very minimal burn.
