About this bottle

Whyte & Mackay launched this blended Scotch in August 2018. This no-age-statement bottling is aged in a combination of new Ohio oak and ex-bourbon barrels that were "double-scorched in Scotland." It is bottled at 80 proof.

Leigh Bruno 3.0

Aroma: Nuts/almonds, sawdust, sweet caramel. Taste: Creamy texture, sweet, oaky, nutty, vanilla, mild ginger, buttery. Finish: Brief finish. A wisp of smoke, oak, wood, green/menthol, light baking spices. Smoky aftertaste. Woody (unexpectedly!), creamy and buttery on the palate, and very sweet. Hints of spice, smoke, and menthol appear, but mainly on the finish. A decent budget-friendly drink.

Vanilla and cooked pears on the nose. Some cinnamon and a touch of smoky vanilla on the palate. The finish is brief and slightly peppery. Overall… I found it to be a bit thin and it didn't deliver on the “no burn” claim on the bottle (as expected). While this is an affordable whiskey, for the same price, I prefer Black Bottle or Monkey Shoulder.

Davion Cavazos 4.3

I found this whiskey very enjoyable, it felt quite smooth. Not intensely peaty and reasonably easy to drink with one ice cube.

Randy Bearden 3.5

Enjoyed it neat initially, a very pleasant spiced drink. Tried it as a salted maple old fashioned as suggested. A delightful beverage!

Denver Chapin 4.0

An easy-drinking whiskey if you intend to have several without depleting your premium top-shelf spirits.

Amiyah Redman 4.5

Great traditional woody taste. Not overly strong. A hint of smoke.
