The English Smokey

Peat is prominent on the nose, but in a sweet and soft way, not overpowering. Vanilla, yellow fruit, and prunes harmonize with the smokiness, creating a very pleasing profile. A touch of biscuit notes suggests its youth. Even at a significant strength (45ppm), the peat is gentle on the palate, perhaps slightly overshadowed by more alcohol than necessary (this spirit seems quite young). Abundant plum and ripe fruit, anise, spices, and a hint of pepper. It has a lively, cheerful character where the peat acts more as a binder than a dominant force, contrary to what the name might imply. It improves with aeration, as the alcohol recedes and the peat becomes more noticeable, though still a bit pronounced. A short finish with notes of ash and spices.

Nose: Vanilla and ginger. Palate: Light, creamy, with a pleasant hit of peat/smoke. Finish: Medium length. Some smoke lingers, and a peppery, spicy warmth develops. This is a respectable no-age-statement whisky that should appeal to peat enthusiasts. It could benefit from more depth and complexity, but for its price point, it's a nice drink. I much prefer the more expensive The English Heavily Smoked, though that benefits from an age statement and being bottled at 46% ABV.

Nose: Full smokiness from Adbeg is noticeable. However, this NAS spirit is like a single-person microwave full of smokiness, but as soon as you open the door, the smoke vanishes and sweetness begins to show itself, the aroma changes quickly. Palate: Texture is light, smokiness is subtle yet noticeable. It's creamy, and as it airs, it becomes progressively sweeter. Finish: Pitiness is more subtly and well-felt than smokiness. From a global whiskey collection, this is entry number 18. It has a translucent, light golden hue with medium-thick legs. The nose offers notes of smoke, wood, herbs, and pepper. On the palate, you'll find smoke, spice, herbs, and wood. It's light in body, with a moderately strong, warming finish. 7/2/7/3/13 3.2

I enjoy smoky whisky. This didn't appeal to me. Others thought it was fine, but I found it unbalanced. The smokiness felt artificial, as if added later after an accidental spill.
