It's a genuine shame that 'paint thinner' and 'trash' aren't available as flavor descriptors on this platform, because frankly, this 'Special Reserve' manages to embody both those profiles. It's a remarkable achievement for mankind and Tesco alike to produce a spirit so incomprehensibly awful, purportedly crafted from a blend of 'the finest single malt' and 'highest quality grain Scotch whiskies'. Admittedly, what else can one anticipate from an £18 whisky? However, it's equally perplexing why one would invest effort in blending and aging something so fundamentally terrible, only to possess the sheer audacity to bottle it. I struggle to identify any valid reason to purchase this, beyond a 'Special Reserve' blend driven by sheer morbid curiosity and a desire for self-inflicted suffering. If you're seeking a cheap whisky for mixing, choose anything but this. If you're after a cheap neat drink to conclude the evening, opt for actual paint thinner.
