Tennessee Legend Kingsnake

Appearance: This Tennessee whiskey is presented in a bottle with a square-like shape and a rounded top. Complementing an admittedly cool name, the label is black with a textured feel. The whiskey itself has a dark brown to amber hue. As Kingsnake is a straight bourbon whiskey, it's legally aged for at least 2 years. Nose: The aroma is very fruit-forward, more so than many other whiskies I've encountered. Specifically, I detect a strong dark fruit/cherry scent. The cherry note is almost medicinal, similar to cherry cough syrup but not quite as potent. Upon closer inspection, a few classic bourbon notes like caramel are present. There are also faint hints of citrus, such as orange. After a few sips, the nose develops a subtle burnt sugar aroma. Palate: The taste is somewhat muted in my view. The overall texture is rather thin, which some people prefer. I typically favor slightly oilier spirits. There's a mild alcohol sting, despite its 90 proof. Wood notes are scarce. The palate is primarily characterized by lighter fruit and caramel flavors. The finish is longer than expected, with a peppery note at the end. Summary: If this whiskey were widely available, I likely wouldn't be as enthusiastic. However, its current limited availability in Tennessee, near the distillery, adds to its appeal. Furthermore, its fruitier nose and palate compared to some other whiskies make it unique. If you're in Tennessee and enjoy fruitier notes in your whiskey, it's worth trying a bottle!

Despite this being a young whiskey, I actually enjoyed it. It felt a bit thin, but it had pleasant sweet and somewhat fruity notes, finishing with a touch of pepper that I liked.
