Stumpy's Old Monroe Single Barrel Select Bourbon

Revisited this pour. I didn't care for Stumpys at first, but after trying a taste from a new bottle, it's different. Batch 20L1, which their site indicates is wheated. For $38, it's certainly worth buying another bottle. This is a young distillery; I'm eager to discover how their products taste with more age.

Sampled single barrel #60. A great 90 proof bourbon for $35. I was informed it was 2 years old and comprised of 60% corn. It's definitely among the superior craft bourbons I've sampled... from a distillery that actually produces its own bourbon. I look forward to seeing its development in a few more years.

Excellent aroma. Very sweet with apple/pear and some honeysuckle on both the nose and palate. The finish is smooth with a mild burn. I tried this during an ABV Network blind tasting. It placed second for me, tying for third with the group behind Buffalo Trace and Old Tub.

This is my third bottle. Barrel #139. I am thoroughly impressed. The palate has abundant vanilla and it smells like a candy shop. The nose and palate both have a good amount of caramel. It leaves a pleasant coating on the tongue.

The aroma is minimal. Slight vanilla/caramel notes. The taste was sweet, with more vanilla and oak on the finish. Quite good for a young bourbon.

Leathery, woody, hint of vanilla, rich, sweet, earthy, hint of ripe cherries, trace of herbal, medium finish.
