Matias Perea 4.0

The nose starts with a beautiful mix of charred oak and citrus, backed up with some gentle earthy rye spice. Soft notes of vanilla and brown sugar follow, rounding out a relatively simple nose yet very inviting. The palate is dry, Rich and fruity, with a little bit of a chew. It fills the mouth with charred oak and citrus as a burst of pepper quickly follows. As it breathes it gets a little spicier but still in a good compliment to the oak and the citrus. This is a fairly simple whiskey yet that is also what makes it so delicious. The orange citrus is a great compliment to bourbon, with two flavor profiles mashing very well. This whiskey is full of traditional bourbon notes with citrus on top. It doesn't need to be complicated, as Starlight already produces incredible bourbon at its age and price point, all it takes is a little extra to really make it a treat. The finish is medium long and chewy, with wonderful lingering notes of oak in citrus, while the pepperiness fades.
