Let's consider this: we have a bottle priced at $43, a store selection, bottled at 110 proof, and it's a craft whiskey. It stands out as one of the most distinctive whiskey bottles I've ever encountered in terms of flavor. This is an easy decision for me. I've tried their standard small batch, non-store pick, and initially, the barley content seemed unusual. However, over time, I began to discover so many unique flavors and tasting notes that I knew I needed another bottle. This time, I found a barrel selection from my local Total Wine, and it's phenomenal! It deviates from the typical bourbon profile, which I appreciate. It has a malty, slightly funky, and beautifully grainy characteristic that intensifies on my palate, leading to some amazing flavors. On the nose: Floral notes of elderflower and eucalyptus Honey Orange peel Fresh apricot Pear Fresh sugar cane Light brown sugar and maraschino cherries Very subtle banana and coconut Vanilla Hot chocolate mix with marshmallows Amaretto This spirit is among my favorites when I desire something unique. It's not my everyday drink, and it requires some time to adjust to the flavors, but it is exceptionally good. I also purchased the Mattie Gladden, and while it's good, the flavors are somewhat more concealed behind the rye, whereas in this one, they are prominent and assertive, readily embracing their distinctiveness! Excellent selection!

The oats provide a very distinctive character. While not to my personal preference, it's still a good spirit.
