Another sample from my collection of 50ml mini bottles. Can you believe that in my 60+ years, I've never been tempted to try it?! Well, it's dark, brown, with thick, viscous legs in the glass. Smells of Juicy Fruit gum, pomegranate, and sweetness. Okay, I'm ready. Tastes of viscous fruit—primarily cherry—and cola in the mouth, very sweet, with a small burst of ethanol, followed by orange bitters. It feels like cough syrup in my mouth, even if that's not precisely the flavor, but there's a chemical quality. Perhaps that's what is considered "spice." A long, sickeningly sweet finish that fades to nearly nothing at the end. Lacks oak or tannic depth, and very little spice. It's one-dimensional. I suspect the older 70 and 80 proof versions were even less engaging, but I imagine that's the appeal—combining sweet fruit with a sweet carbonated beverage, or drinking it sweet over ice. And that's perfectly fine—enjoy what you drink, drink what you enjoy. It's been around for a very long time, so it's appealing to a loyal consumer base. I'd wager it's better paired with a strong unflavored mineral water like Topo Chico—utilize that natural sweetness. Yes, that's the solution!

The liquid is a pale, light amber, showing tight, even alcohol legs. It smells like pralines, pomegranate, various spices, and cornmeal. The taste brings bitters, black pepper, grain spirits, oak, bourbon, and vanilla. It has a medium-high body and a medium-dry finish.

Southern Comfort 100 proof is a well-known Southern liqueur. The nose offers aromas of fruitcake with dried fruits and nuts. The initial taste is sweet, followed by palate flavors of caramel and fruitcake. The finish is sweet, with notes of caramel, baking spices, and citrus peels.

It's sweet, fruity, and goes down nice and smooth. It has very little to no alcohol taste, but it hits you quite hard after a few sips.

This is quite good. It's very full and mellow, tasting of cherry and almond, and thankfully not like medicine this time.

Sweet, caramel, spiciness, very rich in flavor, very sweet, retains the good flavor of the bourbon used.
