Smooth Ambler Old Scout Bourbon 7 Year

Nose: quite faint. Honestly, not much there. It doesn't stimulate the palate for the experience to come. Palate: tastes of the earth; rye is the leading influence. I get leather and a trace of pipe tobacco. It's a bit watery, but it suits this one. Not remarkable overall at this stage. Finish: surprisingly, this bourbon concludes with vigor. The warmth lingers for a bit alongside notes of leather and chocolate. It makes me desire a fine cigar. Overall, somewhat let down. I had high expectations for this bourbon based on my investigations. It did not meet them, but it still has a place in my collection. It will pair excellently with a fine cigar.

It's not overly complex, but it is balanced and very enjoyable. The aroma has wonderful notes of almonds and rye spices, typical of MGP. The taste is not extraordinary, but I detect abundant vanilla, aged oak, and dried fruits. My favorite aspect is the gingerbread spice on the finish, which is simply lovely.

Glad I gave this a shot. A respectable pour with something for all. Sweetness and a hint of heat, but not excessively so. I'd get this again. The app's description is accurate, though I didn't need water or ice. Definitely worth the $29.99 sale price. 3.3/5

The aroma is a classic American vanilla-forward bourbon, but the finish is reminiscent of an Islay Scotch, with subtle briny, almost earthy charcoal notes. It's minty, dry, and a bit hot, but the finish is brief and doesn't linger. Slightly tannic.

This bourbon was pretty good overall. It presents grassy and spicy notes on the palate, attributed to the rye. These were the most noticeable flavors for me. The nose offered a mild sweetness and a bit of ethanol.
