Scryer Rum, Cask Seasoned

On the nose: Rum character is subtle. This presents the common aromas found in sherry/port finished spirits: abundant fruit, dried fruit, fresh fruit, mixed with molasses and a touch of clove. On the palate: It's an easy drink with a slight kick, but the rum's molasses and burnt sugar notes are again somewhat subdued by the sherry and port flavors. Some caramel is present, but not overly sweet. This is an intriguing spirit, unlike other rums I've encountered. It drinks more like a whisky. This would be an excellent option to introduce whisky enthusiasts to the world of rum.

The nose has very sweet red fruits. The palate is also very sweet, as expected from the rum base, but it pairs well with some spice and cinnamon notes. It was great talking with the owner; see you in NYC!
