About this bottle

This limited edition whisky, released in May 2018, is one of several bottlings by Douglas Laing & Co. to commemorate the company's 70th anniversary. Scallywag is named after the family's Fox Terrier, whose image is featured on the packaging. It is a blend of Speyside single malts, matured completely in ex-sherry casks. Aged for 10 years (equivalent to 70 in dog years), it is bottled without chill-filtration or artificial coloring.

Devin Parsons 3.3

The aroma and flavor are dominated by sherry. It's sweet and slightly nutty, with a strong presence of dried fruits, especially raisins. This expression truly shines when served with savory dishes. It's a more robust variation of the standard Scallywag, best suited for enthusiasts of heavily sherried whiskies or those who appreciate sherry wine itself and wish to explore whisky. This is the closest I've come to tasting actual oloroso sherry in a whisky.

Cayla Lau 3.8

A quintessential sweet sherry cask whisky. The typical Macallan orange note is evident, particularly on the nose. Notes of milk chocolate and bitter orange peel accompany a smooth, viscous mouthfeel. An excellent value whisky.

Katelyn Mcneely 5.0

Delicious, well-balanced, and complex. An 85 is an exceptionally low score for this; it deserves at least the low 90s.

Penny Canales 4.0

An excellent blend, featuring notes of chocolate, dates, and brown sugar. Additionally, there's a dog depicted on the label.

Patrick Prather 1.5

A very sweet whisky, reminiscent of rum.

Chester Burke 4.0

A highly enjoyable drink.
