Sandy Mac Blended Scotch Whisky

Most of you likely haven't encountered Old Parr Scotch whisky before. In Ecuador, however, it's quite well-known and goes head-to-head with Chivas Regal and Johnnie Walker. This particular bottling is a more budget-friendly version, which isn't ideal because Old Parr isn't a great whisky, despite its widespread popularity in that country. Sandy Mac is actually Sandy MacDonald. I'm not interested in the background of this dram because it's a terrible whisky. Bottled at 40% ABV. On the nose, the scent is so faint it could almost be water. You get cardboard, dampness, and that same vanilla note found in Old Parr. On the palate, there's just a very subtle caramel flavor. The finish offers a straightforward woody spice. And that's it. In conclusion, you'll probably never come across this spirit, but if you do, avoid purchasing it. I give it a score of 30 out of 100.

Caramel coloring. On the nose, it first impresses with green grape, butter, ripe banana. Orange peel. On the palate, it's acidic, woody, alcoholic but smooth. The finish has tobacco, chocolate, and smoke. Vanilla. With water, it improves quite a bit, becoming balanced with a buttery dominance.

A staple for price/quality in Uruguay, it's perfect for starting with whisky and cocktails. A younger sibling to Old Parr. Very good for social occasions due to its low price.
