Maudie Holcomb 3.5

Nose: honey, dark cherry, fresh wood Palate: cherry, anise, a syrupy maple-like mouthfeel Finish: a little tobacco, woody/nutty notes Part of a charitable blind tasting of bourbons. It was my second favorite out of 5 whiskeys from Arizona. I'm a big supporter of San Tan's brewery and anticipate their continued progress as a distillery. I favor their single malt over their bourbon, though both are distinct and offer something different regionally. Sampled at home.

Anaya Herman 2.3

Poured neat. Subtle aroma with notes of green apple and dusty corn. There's also a slight metallic note, which I typically associate with Irish whiskey, strangely. The sweet green apple and metallic notes persist in the taste. Young woody flavors emerge in the mid-palate, and the finish fades to a blend of unsweetened tea and mild tobacco.

Brooklynn Salisbury 3.8

Nose: Notes of vanilla, strawberry, oak, and sweet berry. Flavor: Berry, vanilla, white sugar, light caramel, and very smooth. Finish: Extended, sugary, fruity, with light oak.

Kinsley Busch 4.0

A smooth Arizona Bourbon from San Tan. Oak and caramel in the finish.

Ahmad Holman 2.8

Aroma of honey, clove, and pepper, with oak and a sharp finish.

Seymour Yancey 2.8

A very mild, standard flavor. Nothing unexpected.
