First introduced in March 2016 as a Travel Retail exclusive, Zacapa Edición Negra is now broadly accessible. This dark rum, aged between 6 and 24 years, matures in double charred American oak barrels. Master Blender Lorena Vásquez, who had been in her position for nearly 25 years, created this expression to honor Guatemalan culture and heritage.

If you enjoy the standard Zacapa Solera 23, you'll likely appreciate this version too. It's not as sweet as the regular 23, but it's very smooth and flavorful. Definitely one to add to your collection.
Orange, white chocolate, and vanilla with fresh floral notes. Smooth and broad with cinnamon and clove. A pleasant finish. Slightly sharp and firm on the sides of the tongue with a lingering taste of oak and smoke from well-charred barrels.
The initial aroma was reminiscent of rubbing alcohol. It has smoky characteristics and drinks like a barrel proof rum. There's very little flavor overall, and it's not sweet. Primarily, it presents as smoky with dark, burnt notes.
Smells pleasant with a touch of sweetness. The taste is balanced and has hints of smoke. I didn't find it as smoky as anticipated. It's smooth and doesn't have a strong alcohol burn.
Notes of chocolate, vanilla, and caramel. Somewhat rich, with light oak and smoke. A whisper of espresso and a touch of bitterness on the palate and finish.
Aroma of vanilla and caramel, with subtle wood notes. Excellent balance between dryness and sweetness. Pleasant wood character, a minor alcohol sting. Lingering sweet finish.
