The Quiet Man 8 Year Single Malt

Served neat, this presents a nose of malt, dark honey, hard biscuit, and mild spice. These same flavors come through in the mouth, along with vanilla/butterscotch, the vanilla being quite pronounced – likely from the finishing in first fill bourbon barrels. The finish has the faintest hint of pepper, and the tongue retains the overall flavors, suggesting some oiliness. The mouthfeel is thicker than a typical Irish spirit. Since triple distillation isn't indicated on the bottle or website, perhaps that contributes to the softer mouthfeel. It's an enjoyable dram and reasonably priced at $35 in my local area. I will buy it again.

An intriguing spirit. It surprised me initially; serving it on ice caused it to virtually vanish. It has a delightful champagne and butterscotch nose, with some oak. The taste is oily and dry, featuring lychee, elderflower, toffee, and a dry applewood finish. This whiskey benefits from being held in the mouth to be truly appreciated. After a night of sampling around ten whiskeys, bring this one out for a journey to another realm. Cheers.

Somewhat uninteresting but not unpleasant. I haven't sampled the regular Quiet Man yet, so I can't offer a comparison. It seems comparable to Slane but smoother. It's heavy on tropical fruit notes like mango and apricot, but these fade quickly on the palate. The nose is better. I might repurchase, but the price is steep for an Irish spirit.

Almost considered giving this 4 stars, as I believe it has a distinct aftertaste similar to Tullamore Dew. I saw a comment about sawdust?! That might actually be it...also notes of chlorine. It might not appeal to everyone, though it is noteworthy. Second sampling/nice finish with oats and toasted bread.

Very floral aroma with baked goods and some vanilla sweetness. The palate is quite spicy with a touch of fruitiness. Perhaps apple? Also a little cinnamon. The finish is long and concludes with dried fruit. A great Irish whiskey that is affordable.

The nose is very fruity, with the characteristic malty funk. The taste returns to a buttery shortbread, typical of Irish spirits, but with orange marmalade and a dry sawdust note. It's richer than one might expect from an 80-proof spirit.
