Planteray Barbados XO Single Cask

An aroma of allspice, cloves, and a hint of cinnamon, all accompanied by sweetness. It brings to mind Christmas. If a candle company were to create a scent based on this aroma, I would purchase it. My partner remarks that it reminds her of toasted coconut. Regarding the flavors...hmm. Vanilla and cinnamon are present. It imparts that characteristic alcohol warmth across the mouth. I detect the faintest note of gingerbread in the final moments of the retro-hale. It's excellent in mixed drinks, but it feels like an extravagant indulgence to dilute it. Perhaps for an eggnog-style beverage? This would be my selection for December holiday celebrations. Ratings are based on neat sipping.

Terrible. Plantation is usually fantastic, but this bottle has no rum aroma or taste. I've never experienced anything like it and still can't describe the flavors. I dumped the rest of my glass. Perhaps it's gone bad or is contaminated.

A very standard XO. I even preferred some younger, less pretentious Plantation bottles to this one. Exotic aromas of pineapple and mango, with notes of wood and vanilla. Good, but very typical.

A potent sweetness on the nose. Each sip revealed something different to me. I can't say it surpasses their 5-year expression, but I would happily drink it again.

It smells like Skoal and Copenhagen. The taste is similar, and the flavor persists indefinitely. This is awful.

The aroma is more appealing than the taste. It's not bad, but not what I anticipated from this rum.
