About this bottle

This 11-year-old bourbon, the eleventh edition in the Parker's Heritage Collection named for master distiller emeritus Parker Beam, is a single barrel release. Minor flavor differences are expected due to its single barrel nature. Parker Beam was diagnosed with ALS in 2010 and passed away in early 2017. The previous four editions, starting with "Promise of Hope," have supported ALS research and patient care, a tradition continued with this release, as Heaven Hill pledges a $10 donation per bottle sold to the ALS Association. It is slated for release in September 2017.

Nose: Warm, full, and welcoming. A lovely caramel essence is present alongside classic bourbon characteristics, intensified. Excellent vanilla, sweet cinnamon, nutmeg, and walnut. It has the aroma of a festive nut cake with a caramel topping. The wood element is subtle, which is preferred, not dominant. Palate: The taste mirrors the aroma very closely. At the start, there's sweet chocolate, a caramel glaze, and smooth vanilla ice cream. The middle of the palate is the highlight, where the festive cake flavors emerge more. Carrot cake, walnut, cinnamon, ginger, and nutmeg. The spices are gentle and mellow in a delightful manner. Finish: The finish is persistent, providing just the right level of oak. The delicate spicy carrot cake note truly endures and is exceptional. Overall: This is an outstanding bourbon, offering a distinct flavor profile in my view. It's certainly one I'd like to own a bottle of! Final rating: 9.6/10

Considering the statement, 'This is the best Bourbon I've ever had,' even that makes a statement. Found on the very top shelf of a restaurant. The bartender had to get a ladder to retrieve the bottle, saying nobody had ordered it. Here we go. Brown sugar, honey, and pure glory. The finish and depth were unreal. Several drops of water only enhanced everything. So simple and silky, yet totally complex. Phenomenal. I'll seek this out.

Nose: smooth vanilla, orange pop, black spice, deep oak, cigar leaf Taste: ash and burnt wood, peppers, toasted seeds, citrus, and maize End: Lingering spice with notes of oak and tobacco Strong and direct, not at all sugary. This is a superb whiskey that conceals its alcohol content on the aroma and the conclusion. Well-rounded and precisely what's anticipated from an 11-year single barrel whiskey from Parkers.

Deep gold color. Powerful spicy oak on the aroma. Drinkable at cask strength, but water unlocks the scent. More caramel, brown sugar, and sweet fruit appear. A massive amount of flavor on the tongue, all as one would expect from a barrel-proof bottling from this distillery. Very reminiscent of another well-known brand. The conclusion is enduring with some black pepper and more bitter oak, neither of which is undesirable! Highly endorsed.

The nose is packed with baking spices, oak, vanilla, sweet apples, and a hint of port. The palate is very dry and heavily oaked, with black pepper, cinnamon, vanilla, and caramel that gradually develops as the pepper recedes. The finish is long, warm, and spicy, with a mouthful of oak, fading pepper, and hints of vanilla and cinnamon.

I paid twenty bucks for a taste of this. The aroma was lovely, with distinct vanilla notes. It had a rich, thick body with oak flavors that complemented the vanilla. Further exploration revealed honey-drizzled toast with a warm, spicy finish. I'm glad I tried it, though I won't be purchasing it.
