Dark and intricate aroma, perhaps medicinal notes. The flavor strongly resembles rye. Medicinal notes are present on the palate, which I always find distinctive. Toffee and herbs.
Wow! Castle and Key, take note – this is how a 4-year bourbon should be made. It has hints of young ethanol but is also quite malty and oaky. Remarkably complex for its age.
Primarily vanilla on the aroma. The taste is spicy with hints of wood, syrup, caramel, and a trace of smoke. The spice remains in the finish with a touch of bitterness.
Applesauce, raw dough, and mild spiced grains on the nose. Stewed apples, subtle barrel spice, young oak, and nutmeg. A hint of sweetness. Moderately warming finish. A solid pour.
Tasted from a Whiskies of the World sample box. The nose presented cinnamon and honey, followed by corn sweetness and spice on the palate. A distinct rye spice is present in the finish.
