Diamond Mcgill 3.3

For a spirit made with 99% corn and bottled at 80 proof, I'm surprised by the lasting spice. The flavor is direct with mellow sweet notes, but it's a very basic corn whiskey that will serve as a decent mixer or an easy-drinking spirit if you aren't looking for complexity. I came in with low expectations and was pleasantly surprised. If I had high hopes, I'd be let down. For a spontaneous purchase from a clearance shelf, I'm content.

Santos Arias 3.8

Tasting a store selection from Meijer. It's 118 proof. The aroma features baked cornbread and cherries. The taste is high in corn, fruity, and sweet. The texture is oily and thick. The finish has high spice, is medium in length, and has subtle cherry notes.

Laney Stahl 2.8

Very immature, with a lot of corn upfront. It's not bad for a young bourbon sourced from MGP. I tried the cask strength version, and it's worth about $30, but not much more.

Emilie Bragg 3.8

Good for the price and age (at least two years). I tried a store selection, the cask strength one on the right.

Brayan Haas 3.5

Amazing caramel flavor with a satisfying finish. I recommend this. Now, how do I pronounce the name?

Douglas Martins 2.8

Bourbon with a lot of corn. It's acceptable as a mixer. The cask strength version is much superior.
