About this bottle

This bourbon honors the D. Canale & Co. warehouse located at Huling Station in Memphis, Tennessee, where spirits from Domenico Canele were stored around 1866. This bourbon, featuring a high-rye mash bill, is made to echo that historical style. It is bottled at 100 proof.

Nose: leather and cigar. Just how a bourbon should smell. Palate: Initially, I detect cherry and vanilla. It has quite a burn considering its 100 proof. Finish: The finish is brief. There's not much to say about it. I heard someone compare the finish to furniture polish (positively) and couldn't grasp it. After tasting, I completely understand. It's difficult to describe, but that's the perfect way to characterize this bourbon. Overall: It starts as a standard bourbon. I'm curious to see how aging and perhaps a little water or an ice cube will enhance the flavor. I'll try it again shortly.

Fletcher Negron 3.3

The aroma is strongly perfumed and floral. After a few minutes of resting, I detect a subtle sweet and tart cherry note. The initial taste mirrors the cherry, with oak and char. Adding ice brings out some of the original floral notes and a slight vanilla that wasn't there before. I appreciate this one regardless of how it's served. It's a good offering.

Darian Riggins 3.8

A nose of roasted corn, oak, vanilla, pear, plum, cherry, barrel spice, and rye. The palate is sweet and spicy, with oak, caramel, rye, cinnamon, barrel spices, and a long peppery finish. It's fruity, with elements reminiscent of Christmas desserts. The finish is dessert-like.

They managed to capture the spicy rye flavor with a very smooth, low burn. Thin mouth feel and short finish are the only downsides. Not bad at all considering I'm tasting it out of a plastic cup. But hey, guess that's Beale st.

Rodney Barrera 4.0

On the nose it's spicy and fruity with notes of baked cinnamon pear, cherries, green apple. On the palate I get brown sugar, smoke, toasted bread, spiced apple, salted caramel. Thanks

Lorrie Cherry 3.3

Upon the first pour, the aroma is of maple and baking spices. The taste brings rye spice, and it finishes like a stick of Big Red chewing gum. I'm eager to see how it evolves.
