This is a product from an NDP company that crafts and finishes whiskeys, also making other liquors. The website offers no details on this particular release, but the label states it's 103 proof blended straight whiskeys with a Rhum barrel finish, and only 120 bottles were made. There isn't much to go by. It's dark brown in the bottle and shows significant legs. The aroma is potent, led by burnt brown sugar. Notes of sweet bread, citrus, and vanilla icing are present, reminiscent of king cake. After spending more time with the aroma, I suspect the whiskies are a wheated bourbon and a rye, with the Rhum influence becoming more apparent. Despite being 103 proof, neither the aroma nor the taste betray its strength. It's like liquid Crème Brûlée with slightly charred brown sugar and a cherry on top. It coats the palate beautifully, leaving a sweet, lingering oak finish. While not my usual preference, the creators have done an excellent job. I enjoy it. Since it was a gift, the cost is unknown, which certainly makes it more enjoyable.
