Wood and spice are present on the nose, but neither is very pronounced. The taste is straightforward yet robust. It begins as if an alcohol impact is coming, but it never happens. Spice and light oak give way to a mild finish. A fine bourbon for sipping when you desire something unobtrusive.

About this bottle
Brew Pipeline introduced this bourbon following the success of Motörhead Röad Crew, a pale ale launched in the fall of 2020. Ace of Spades is produced and bottled by Proof Artisan Distillers in Fargo, ND. It is matured for four years in charred oak barrels and consists of a blend of 60% corn, 36% rye, and 4% barley. The final blend was approved by original band members Mikkey Dee and Phil Campbell; Lemmy Kilmister passed away in 2015. Bottled at 45% ABV, it has been available year-round since August 2021.

It's fucking Motorhead, like the band, not complicated but definitely makes its statement with attitude. You can't really expect much from a young novelty whiskey, I'll try it again in a week to see if it evolves. If you're looking for a solid heavy metal whiskey, grab the Slipknot limited edition Iowa.
It started very harsh, leaving a lingering burn in my throat for about 15 seconds even after a small amount of ice. It required a good 15 minutes with ice to mellow. Afterwards, it had very little flavor. In my opinion, it's simply a bad whiskey.
