Eager to explore tequila more, especially since my new girlfriend is a bartender eager to introduce me to spirits beyond whiskey, my friend who suggested the really good Embajador Supreme Anejo also strongly recommended this tequila. So, I decided to try it, planning to buy a bottle of Extra Anejo if this one was truly delicious. The aroma is very agave-dominant, like many tequilas. Bright, sharp citrus leads the way, with a little vanilla and oak following behind. The flavor begins quite simply with mild, sweet butterscotch. In the middle, you realize just how intensely SWEET this tequila is. Amazing. The flavor is almost entirely without the usual, earthy agave taste. Instead, it's full of vanilla, caramel, and banana flavors. The texture is a pleasant tingle/slight numbness, similar to Szechuan peppercorns (but don't get me wrong - there's no peppery bite. Just a bit of tingly numbness in the middle of the tongue). As the flavor moves to the finish, you do get a little agave, but on the much sweeter side. A hint of tannic oak and toasted bread nicely balances the sweetness, but really, that sweet tingle persists to the end. This is unlike any tequila I've ever experienced. It might be just a bit too sweet for me, but it's perfect for sipping neat from a Glencairn glass. However, this one works wonderfully as a dessert drink, perhaps after a very spicy meal. Delicious!

Regarding the Reserva Suprema: smooth, sweet finish that lingers. Faint hints of honey are noticeable.
