The initial impression of this Mezcal is its extremely leathery aroma that greets you. Honestly. You could easily mistake it for the scent of brand new leather shoes rather than a Mezcal, with only faint hints of toffee barely breaking the illusion. On the tongue, however, it's surprisingly sweet—by Mezcal standards, that is—with a finish that is entirely agave. The barrels have certainly helped to mellow this Mezcal, making it quite approachable, although be warned, it's not very smoky. It's a decent reposado that makes for enjoyable sipping, but it does seem a bit expensive, so -.25 points for that. I acquired mine at a reduced price and am extremely pleased with it.
